Abstract

The earliest signs of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) typically involve episodic memory deficits as well as disorientation in space and time. Since early neuropathology of AD affects brain regions that are also involved in episodic time and event segmentation, we evaluated such functions in a well-characterized cohort of patients with early-stage AD and healthy age-matched controls. Participants listened to narrative audio stories, and were asked to indicate duration, order and position of story events, as well as boundaries between events. Our preliminary results confirm that event segmentation and temporal memory is affected in early AD, and related to verbal recall and CSF biomarkers for AD.
